Robocop Rogue City: Release date, trailers & everything we know - Dexerto

RoboCop: Rogue City puts gamers in the shoes of Detroit police officer Alex Murphy, a cyborg tasked with bringing lethal justice to criminals in a ruthless dystopian future. The game boasts investigative mechanics and an upgrade system, in addition to the gunplay and action sequences.

But does it have enough substance to succeed? IGN’s video shows the game does a lot of shooting, but it also focuses on finding evidence and interrogating people.

Upgrade Your Weapons

As you mow through enemies in Detroit City, you’ll earn skill points that can be used to upgrade your weapons and armor. However, don’t waste your skill points on unnecessary upgrades. Each weapon has its own upgrade tree, and once you get close to the end of a tier it’s usually best to just jump straight to the next one instead of unlocking every single node.

Want to take advantage of your gun arm’s explosive power? While the game is paused, press and hold B, A, C. A row of weapons will then appear on the screen; just release the buttons to select one. You can also find a secret area in the same spot that contains 16 extra lives. It’s behind a 3-story building with 2 cannons positioned on the top.

Upgrade Your Ammo

As depicted in the movies, RoboCop is a one-man tank of destruction, dispensing justice with the slow precision of a machine. In Rogue City, players can use his augmented abilities to scan crime scenes for clues and dispatch enemies with the Auto-9 sidearm, which has unlimited ammo (although you’ll be able to pick up weapons dropped by slain bad guys).

Polish developer Teyon has made a number of first-person shooters that expand 1980s movie franchises. They’ve dipped their toes into everything from rail shooters to open worlds, and they know how to make the most of familiar intellectual property.

Pre-orders for the game have already begun, and they’ll net you 48 hours early access, a damaged Alex Murphy armor skin, a prototype Auto-9 pistol and more. Check out the official teaser trailer for more.

Upgrade Your Gear

If you want to get the most out of your gear, then it’s a good idea to upgrade it. This will give you an edge over your enemies. You can upgrade your weapons, your ammo, and even the armor that you wear.

The game’s main character is Old Detroit cop Alex Murphy, who was rebuilt as a cybernetic killing machine called RoboCop. He is equipped with enhanced strength and durability, advanced scanning technology, and other cutting-edge tools for bringing lethal justice to the criminal underworld.

The reboot movies portrayed him as plot armor that could take a hail of bullets, but the real thing would be able to kill an unlimited number of SWAT police officers. Despite the fact that it offers an impressive array of gadgets and includes the voice of Peter Weller, the game can feel like a bog standard movie tie-in at times.

Upgrade Your Items

As in the movies, the game is less about apprehending criminals and more about annihilating them with lethal precision. That said, you’ll want to upgrade your weapons and equipment as soon as possible, as well as your body armor and health levels.

Every time you clear a level, your score is tallied up and applied to an extensive skill tree that can improve the combat, movement, and other stats in your cop. You can also use skill points to acquire new abilities, like ricocheting bullets off walls for a deadly surprise attack.

Nacon and Teyon have released a new trailer for their upcoming title that features 48-hour early access, a chance to shoot the iconic Auto-9, an alternative RoboCop costume, a special edition t-shirt, and a digital artbook. Check it out below.

Upgrade Your Character

While the Auto 9 remains the main tool of dispatching justice, you can also equip a variety of secondary weapons. Amplifying an attack will have RoboCop fire a Tear Gas grenade that deals damage over time and lowers the opponent’s health to 6% while remaining in effect until blocked, struck by a Krushing Blow or Fatal Blow, or killed by a physics-based collision.

The original RoboCop actor Peter Weller lends his voice to the game, which helps to create some serious authenticity. A few of the players I spoke with noted that RoboCop feels almost invincible in the portions they played, which is entirely appropriate given his mandate to wipe out crime with wanton violence. The same goes for the enemies you encounter, with the henchmen of OCP displaying an impressive amount of brute strength.
